Globe Geminon XL: Best beginner dancing longboard?
Are you new to longoard dancing, your budget is limited, and you are looking for a board that is not too expensive and of sufficient quality to please you? Globe Geminon XL could well meet your expectations…
Globe Geminon XL is an 8-ply maple deck with a symmetrical profile. The dimensions are in the average of what is done in dancing: 47 "x 9.5" with a wheelbase of 32.5". The long platform leaves plenty of room for cross-stepping.
The board has a rather pleasant slight flex, especially when you have little speed (which is generally the case when you start). The kicks have a low tilt, which in my opinion makes manuals easier on a board of this size. The slight concave makes proper foot placement intuitive and adds leverage for carving. The shape cutout and the deep wheel wells will prevent you from the unpleasant experience of the wheels rubbing, even if you ride with the trucks loose.
Assembly level:
The board is gripped over its entire surface with a light grit black griptape.
The Slant Magnesium 50° 180mm Trucks are versatile and particularly light.
In bearings we will find some Abec 7 of correct quality.
The wheels are Globe Conical 65mm 78A. Soft and comfortable wheels comfortable on all types of surfaces and relatively easy to slide.
In conclusion, the Geminon XL meets all the basics necessary for a longboard beginner and stands out with a very good quality / price ratio. Simple and effective, no frills. The whole assembly is coherent and allows a great first dancing experience with a relatively small budget. Experienced riders will prefer a more technical board (materials, components, etc.), but that is not the claim of this Globe Geminon XL.
