LDPThe art of travelling long distances by skateboard

LDP involves skateboarding long distances by pushing or pumping. Some riders have travelled across countries and continents on their skateboards, using only their legs. Others, in search of sporting performance, take part in ultra skate races, sometimes covering several hundred kilometres in 24 hours (e.g. the 24h du Mans Skate, or the Miami ultra skate).

LDP= Long Distance Pushing or Long Distance Pumping.

Each discipline has its own equipment, and LDP is no exception to the rule.

The board

The board must be lowered in one way or another to minimise its ground clearance. The lower the board, the easier and less tiring it will be to push off.

The board can be drop through (trucks screwed on top) or pendular, or even both. For pumping, pendulum boards sometimes have a slope at the ends to change the angle of the trucks and make the technique easier.

The most popular brands of LDP boards are Pantheon and Loaded.

Wheels

Generally between 80mm and 110mm in diameter, large wheels offer greater inertia. As a result, for every push you make, you'll be able to ride further and longer.

The most popular LDP wheels are Orangatang Caguama and Dad Bod, Pantheon Karma & Hoku, Seismic Speed Vents 85mm & Tailwind.

Trucks

Depending on the type of board, you'll opt for a standard or inverted geometry. The width should preferably be limited to 165mm to reduce the risk of hitting the wheels with the foot when pushing.

Popular LDP trucks include the Pantheon Stylus, Paris V3 150 & 165mm and Bear Grizzly Gen6 155mm.
