Test and opinions Landyachtz Tugboat - The king of pumptracks cruisers
Born from the same roots as the Landyachtz Dinghy series of cruisers, the Tugboat adopts more generous dimensions and will be better suited to pumptrack, while still performing well when cruising. Here's our review and opinion...
Let's start by introducing Landyachtz. "Landy' is a Canadian brand based in Vancouver and founded in the early 2000s by a group of seasoned longboarders, including several downhill world champions. The brand quickly made a name for itself, shining on the international downhill podiums with the deck EVO, the brand's first major success.
It wasn't long before the Landyachtz team felt the need to shape a cruiser that could be used for everyday commuting, while retaining good versatility for throwing down a few slides and tricks. The Dinghy made its appearance and won over customers with its versatility, riding comfort and quality, which were superior to all the plastics of the time. skateboards plastics of the time. It was the start of the Dinghy success story, which would later be available in different widths (Classic, Blunt, #9, Coffin, Fat Coffin) and a multitude of graphics (Skeleton, Chartreuse, Pinecone,...)
The end of the 2010s and the appearance of the first pumptracks created new needs among riders. They want decks short, but with a good width under the feet.
The Dinghy held up well on pumptrack, but people wanted more underfoot! That's why Tugboat has arrived, like a Dinghy on steroids. The 30" x 9.25" dimensions with 15" wheelbase are perfect for mogul tracks.
We love the medium concave, which makes you feel like you're in a slipper. The moulded wheels The moulded wheel flares limit the risk of the tyres wheels under the deckThe kicktail gives you both a good grip and a good feel for the road.
The kicktail allows you to wedge your foot in and snap ollies at the same time. The raised nose prevents the front foot from shifting on the board as you turn.
In terms of set-up, the trucksBear Polar 155mm are solid, agile and stable. What more could you ask for?
The original Tugboat set-up comes with 2 options wheels:
Hawgs Lil Easy 60m 78a for a more 'tricks friendly' set-up, or Hawgs Fatty 63mm 78A for greater stability, grip and speed retention.
At bearingsLandyachtz hasn't skimped on quality. The Bear Space Ball Abec 7 with spacers are powerful and solid.
Tugboat comes in a range of graphics: UV Bengal (changes colour in the sun), Jetski fun,...
In conclusion, we recommend the Landyachtz Tugboat for those looking for a skateboard cruising & pumptrack. The Tugboat will meet the expectations of riders of all levels, from beginners to experts. We love the quality of the Tugboat's assembly, which sets it apart from the rest of the range. Its compact size means you can take your skateboard with you wherever you go.
A Landyachtz Tugboat is available for test at our skateshop in Fontanil Cornillon (38). Come and see for yourself!
