Test Long Island Surfskates
Long Island arrives with a new trucks surfskate system. We've put them to the test so we can offer you the best advice.
The design of the trucks Long Island Lean Genesis surfboards:

With the new trucks Lean Genesis, Long Island has completely revised its design. We've gone from a system with a look close to that of a Carver CX, to something that at first glance is very close to a truck Yow Meraki.
These new trucks Lean Genesis are now manufactured in the Spanish Basque Country by the same factory as Yow (Long Island & Yow belong to the same group). Even before testing, we welcome the relocation, which counters the flight of many US brands to China.
Of course, the Yow inspiration is still there, with a rocker system on the truck which pivots around an axis. Unlike the Yow Meraki, the Long Island Lean Genesis does not use a spring, but 2 bushings in the shape of a half circle. However, the overall operating principle remains very similar.

How do the Lean Genesis-equipped surfskates Long Island perform?
In action, there's no surprise, the HLC factory touch is there, and we find the surfy, agile feel we already love on the Yow. Picking up speed by pumping is relatively simple, but requires a little more energy than with the Meraki. On the other hand, when you push off, the board remains more stable and less tricky for beginners.
Although not as lively as the Yow Meraki, it's still very agile, and it's very easy to ride in loops, figure eights, abrupt changes of direction, and so on. To put it in perspective, we'd say that agility is halfway between Yow Meraki and Slide Surfskate.
We love this ingenious and robust new long Island Surfskate system. The absence of a spring means we don't have to worry about a fragile part requiring regular replacement. We also hope that in the future Long Island will offer a range of different tread hardnesses to suit everyone (we're on 90A as standard). The surf feel is spot on. The quality/price ratio is excellent for tyres that are decks totally made in Europe (Plateau, trucksand wheels).
We recommend the surfskates Long Island Lean Genesis to all riders looking for a great surfing experience. The ease with which these boards can be picked up decks for beginners, but more experienced riders will also have a lot of fun.
