Depending on the discipline practiced, longboard wheels vary greatly, and many points must be taken into account: Diameter, Hardness, Width, Shape of lips,...

As a general rule, the harder a wheel is, the easier the glide will be. A wheel with a narrow contact patch will also slide more easily.

Slide oriented wheels have a narrower contact patch, rounded lips, superior hardness, and are often stone grounded to provide a smooth glide from the first slide.

High traction wheels are wider, have sharper lips, and lower hardness.

Small wheels have higher acceleration power and lower saturation speed.Larger wheels have more inertia and higher spin speed. They are also more “all terrain” on rough terrain.

Here are some indicative selection criteria by discipline:

_Slides: 60 to 65mm wheels with narrow tread and round lips. Preferably stone grounded finish. Hardness between 82A and 86A

_Freeride: Diameter 65 to 70mm, narrow tread, round lips, hardness between 80A and 83A

_Downhill: Diameter 70mm to 80mm, wide tread with square lips. Glazed finish. Hardness between 75A and 80A

_Dancing: Diameter 60 to 70mm, medium to narrow tread, round lips. Hardness between 80A and 86A

_Mini Cruiser: Diameter 60mm, tread of intermediate width, hardness between 78A and 82A. Above 60mm, consider adding riser pads to prevent the wheels from touching the board.

_Carving: Diameter 65 to 75mm, Wide tread, Glazed finish, Hardness 78A to 80A

_Pumptrack: Diameter 60 to 65mm, intermediate width, Hardness 78A to 86A

_LDP: Diameter 75mm to 90mm, Medium tread, square lips, Hardness 75A to 83A_Surfskate: Diameter 60 to 70mm. Width, shape, and hardness vary depending on whether you want to exploit the glide or the grip_Electric skateboard: Diameter 80mm and more, medium width, hardness 77A to 83A. Wheel/Motor System compatibility varies between each brand, and it is important to inquire before purchase. Some models stand out thanks to their compatibility with external motors: Orangatang Kegel and Caguama, Abec 11 Flywheels
