Tony Hawk is without a doubt the most famous skateboarder among the general public. Tony even has his own character in The Simpsons! Nicknamed The Birdman, Tony is known for his supremacy on vert ramps from mid 1980s to early 2000s, with many victories at the X Games, and for the feat of being the first to land a 900° (two and a half spins). Tony Hawk also owes much of his fame to the video game series that bears his name. He is the owner of the brand Birdhouse. This big-hearted skater does a lot to promote skateboarding, notably through his organization The Skatepark Project (formerly the Tony Hawk Foundation), which provides skateboarding facilities to underserved communities in order to foster social bonds and integration through sport.
