Independent Trucks Stage 4: What's the point skating reisssues?
Independent seizes nostalgia and brings back its flagship model from 1986, the Stage 4! Return to the good old times with a truck full of character!
Independent (aka Indy) is manufacturing skateboard's trucks since 1978. No need to explain that many evolutions has happen over the years and skateboarders generations.
This year, Independent makes the surprise by bringing back a reissue of the stage 4.
What makes the stage 4 any different from actual Independent stage 11?
Stage 4 represents the most accomplished trucks generation of the old-school era. Starting from Stage 5, Independent completely redesigned the truck's behavior to provide greater stability at the expense of agility (which nevertheless remains very good).
Indy Stage 4s have a distinct feeling that sets them apart from everything else, with significantly superior maneuverability that allows for maneuvers like loops. The more responsive behavior has a surf-like touch, reminiscent of the early days of skateboarding.
Independent Stage 4: How to use them?
Indy Stage 4 trucks are equally suited for street skating, bowl riding, and cruising. Four sizes are available to accommodate different deck widths.
We particularly love stage 4 on old school boards, as it allows for a perfect blend of cruising and tricks, fitting perfectly with the spirit of these trucks.
Does Indy Stage 4 reissue trucks are the exact same as the original ones from 1986?
All the geometry of the reissued Indy Stage 4 trucks is identical to that of 1986. However, there are two main variations:
- The baseplate is has 6mounting holes (old school & new school drillings) compared to the original who had only 4.
- Manufacturing method. The alloys and manufacturing processes have been refined over the years. The reissued Stage 4 trucks are stronger than the originals.
